    GTX SC questions

I was just working on a friend of mine's GTX SC and noticed the damn thing has two waterboxes. Whats up with that? Does the RXT have two waterboxes? I wonder what kind of performance enhancements you would see from removing the second waterbox. Has anyone ever removed the second waterbox? It seems you would have to remove it to run an external intercooler.

And whats up with that weird looking resonator? I have the billet blockoff piece that came with my Riva air intake. I think i may remove the resonator and block that off for him.

Jerry, no the RXT does not have two water boxes.
I bet you could remove one and gain a MPH or two.

must be a 2003 GTX SC?

the 2004 GTX SC does NOT have two waterboxes. the 03 and 04 are ALOT more different than most people realize, 04 being a MUCH more improved unit.

Glen was trying to sell a conversion kit for the 03 exhaust but i don't know what is going on with that.... but the 04 SC and RXT are much more alike animals.

Shibby, this is where it gets strange. His ski IS a 2004 GTX SC. I just snapped a pic of it sitting in my garage to show you.

Get this shit... it has a PLASTIC PUMP! The 04's are supposed to have aluminum pumps.

Its an early production ski so im willing to bet they stuck some left over 03 parts in it

So does anyone know why they did away with the second waterbox in 04?
Maybe i should ditch his second waterbox along with the resonator?

well i know for a fact that i guess late model 04 SC has ONE waterbox jsut like the RXP and RXT...

GET THIS THO.... you would think MORE waterboxes = quieter ski... well the 03 SC is louder than an RXP and RXT and they only have 1 waterbox.

i can't verify if it's as simple as eliminating a wterbox and re-routing the hoses or what... but the facts we do know is that lte 04 models and rxp/rxt platform only utilize 1 waterbox while the 03 has two, and apparently early 04 as well.

strange.... can't believe a plastic pump as well!

Yea, no telling what else he has from an 03 on this ski. I hope not the cast pistons. From what i understand the 04's have forged pistons. Hopefully this ski has them too.

What color were the engines in the 03's?

Also, if you can note any visual differences between the 03 and 04 let me know. I want to see if this ski has anymore left over 03 parts on it.

Been to long for me to remember much about the stock 03 GTX...I think early 04's had the plastic pump as well as some had the steel sc clutch...As well I think that all GTX models have the cast pistons..185 hp did not need forged pistons...T.O.P.S. sensors were an issue back then...As well as I think oil press. sensors..Or something like that...I remember changing them in my motor early on...You can remove the second waterbox with the stock ecu still installed if I remember corectly..Block up or remove the opas system..(one of the first things I ever did) Man extreme home makeover is REALLY CHEEZEY!! Sorry just thinking out loud..My wife is watching it...Another thing...I believe you will get a dryer ride if needed with the 2.5 wedge I hated it though..I lost speed with it, but the ride was fun..Geez thats about all I can think of right now if I remember more I will let you know... Hopefully it helps though..
An older pic of my boat...I changed the yellow bumper to red...Yellow got too dirty too fast

Thanks for your input Mike. I put a OPAS blockoff kit on his ski a couple weeks ago and he loves it.
