Thread: Gauge cluster

Bought a used 2007 gtx limited. The gauge cluster has a crack in it that allows water to get in. The gauge still works but has about a shot glass of water in it. I have it out of the ski but can not get it open to drain the water and clean it.
What can I do?

try putting a shop vac on the crack and bring the water close? Just a idea. Not sure if that would work

Breon drilled a few tiny holes on the rear of his, and put it in a bag of rice, to absorb the moisture from it. Also might have used a heat gun, to warm it up some.

Well i eneded up removing the pressure relief valve and grommet on the back of the unit, then I sprayed a half a can of electrical parts cleaner into it, shook it all out, then placed it in front of a dry, warm air source. It seems to be completely dry inside and is working fine, but I still have the problem of the cracks allowing water to get back in. I will try silicone for now but since I am riding ocean only i have a feeling it will not hold
So...... Is this a year, make, model specific design flaw?
If i get a replacement should I look for a specific year? Or do they all develop cracks over time?

Anyone know if the gauge cluster from a 2008 gtx limited is compatible with a 2007 gtx limited?
