More power = more fuel!
Those 42's allow you to flow more fuel which it needs...
You could always ease up on the throttle...

thats the thing i was only going half throttle , 6000 rpms for the whole ride! with like two wot passes

What are your afr's?

Your going to use more fuel all the way through the rev range, as your ecu is mapped for 38# and your using 42#. you could install a rrfpr and wind back the base pressure a little bit, but it won't help that much.
Remember, "you have to pay, to play"

1/2 tank in 40 minutes stock is good, even at 6K. Consider yourself lucky. Wanna save gas? Go on a diet

what kind of air intake do you have?
A 4" rear air intake would lean it out some, and give it more power.

if your still running the junk stock ic in the mani then put your 38s back in. if your running aftermarket ic then you still run the 38s but with a rrfpr. your just wasting fuel now with the 42s

If your running a RRFPR keep it under 5k rpms, once you start boosting, fuel goes bye bye.
