How to remove the exhaust system from a 2000 Yamaha XL 1200 LMTD?
Can I remove the exhaust system from a 2000 Yamaha XL 1200 LMTD without pulling the whole engine from the bay?
I would like to remove the cylinder head to inspect the piston and cylinders but the exhaust is in the way.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I loosened the two bolts on the middle of the the exhaust to the right of the engine and used a pry bar to force the portion of the exhaust out the way that was blocking the two cylinder head bolts. and was able to remove the cylinder head without removing the exhaust or the engine from the bay.

That exhaust pipe has a third bolt that attaches at the left side of the rear of the engine, which would make it unnessesary to pry real hard. And for the record, the entire exhaust system can be removed without removing the engine, actually you HAVE to remove the 2 largest exhaust parts before taking the engine out.

Thanks for the follow up. I didn't need to pry hard at all, it just simply shifted allowing me to gain access to the bolts.
