Mike, it might be tough to find someone willing to work on Polaris anymore. How mechanical are you?

It may save you some $$$ and give you experience doing it yourself. It's not that tough.....

Thanks guys, I am pretty mechanically inclined, I work on just about everything, The problem I have is I live in Wisconsin, and the Ski is at my vacation home in the Keys, I only get down there every few months and I am usually fixing things on the house, also I have limited tools down there, I agree I am almost always in favor of doing things myself. But I thought this time I might have someone else do it. I have not even looked at the book yet but I am thinking it would be a bitch pulling the flywheel off with the engine in. I replaced the stator in my 99 Harley Ultra Classic, and had no problems, so maybe it would not be that bad.

Even if you end up pulling the engine, its not hard to do. just might take va few hours. You could probably do it in the ski though

Thanks guys, I got in touch with KEYZBUM, he is not doing any work right now, so I may have no choice but to do it myself, with limited tools down there, how hard is it to get the flywheel off? do You need a puller? also are the screws that hold the stator in place a bitch to get off? And one last question, are all the bolts metric or SAE?

The bolts are metric. I used a 20 dollar bolt puller kit from harbor freight to get the flywheel out. The stator screws use a 4mm allen wrench to remove I believe.

Thanks Bryan, I am assuming you did not pull the engine, I take it you had enough room for the puller? Also I hope they are Allen screws, I thought my manual said they were Phillips and you would need a hammer screwdriver, I would think that would be pretty tough to do in a confined space. I am trying to figure out what tools to bring with me. I really appreciate all the help you have given me. Thanks again Mike.
