    need advice on 2002 GP 800 , too many hours ?

    Looking at a 2002 GP 800 , with 180 hours , too many ???? price is 2400.00 overall the ski is great shape , a little dock rash if anything , looks like it was kept indoors as well. starts and runs strong , right price ??

    In my opinion I would pass. Just skip it and look for a GP1200r. For some reason GP800r's have carry a high re sale value and more often then not you can find a gp1200r for a little more or the same price. Also 180 hrs is a little high for an engine without work done so most likely you will be putting some $$$ in to it. Also If you are looking to mod it there is nothing you can do that will make up for that 3rd cylinder so just pass if you have any intention of moding the engine. Other wise they are pretty good skis if your not chasing speed and want a good fuel efficient ski, but they are also not very good with two people.

    Looked and Bought today , final price 2200. checked compression 130 , 133 good for a yamaha ?? motor looks clean very clean maybe rebuilt ?
    Have a pro 785 ( polaris ) , was looking for something close to it in the Yamaha models .
    Is there any mods I should do or you would recommend ? Not looking for a speed demon , just a fun re able ski any more advice would be great

    Much better deal. Step the sponsons and seal up the pump shoe and your good to go. Also check to see if it has wave eater clips to make sure the pv don't fall in. If it is still using oil injection you might consider switching to pre mix or at the very last double check the oil lines.

    Thanks Almost for the advice . I would assume the premix would be 40 to 1 ? Have been looking on here and ebay for any parts , Saw a exhaust bypass on ebay for 46 bucks worth it ? And if i remember shim the ride plate ???
    Again thanks for the info , looking to maybe ride this weekend ( Here in Texas )
