Tricks for removing debri from intake grate
OK guys, I have fixed up a Kawasaki JetMate for fishing the flats. Sometimes there is floating seagrass and it will get in the intake grate and impeller. I don't really want to have to turn the boat over with all my gear inside simply to clear the debri. Any suggestions, or devices that could be made and kept on the boat to reach underneath? Any other way to prevent this from happening, like placing a screen or something over the intake grate? I don't go WOT, just put around at about 1/2 throttle.

My guess is your apt to do more damage by screening your intake than not. Personally, other than getting wet, I don't know of any trick to cleaning debris. Over the last few years, I've been upside down and under the ski, done some wake jumping, back to back w/another ski, dragged skis on the bank and laying them over... none of it's easy to clear debris from the tunnel/prop. These machines aren't made for the grassy waters.

Dude...don't put a screen over the intake. There is nothing you can do to secure it enough to keep it from getting sucked through. If you can invent something that works that doesn't take a lot of room on the ski when not in use....Market it.
