    checking valves

any body know if there is a how to of checking the valve numbers on a 06 rxp ?
like what i have to remove to see them and all torq specs for bolts ect
i have looked at the sticky on valve failiers and i did not know it afected the 06
i had two valves drop on a 2005 after an hour of buying it the motor was toast and had to buy new (that was not cheap)
reason i ask you is the ski has done about 5 hrs since 2007 and when i picked it up it had water in the water box
so i doubt it had ever been fogged or winterized any way.
i have never had the rocker cover off a 4tec so need some sound advice.
thanks in advance if anyone can help.

I checked the model number on my valves without having to remove the rocker arms. Just had to use a flashlight to give me some light to check the top stem on the valves to see the starting numbers.

However, it is much easier to check what the numbers are if the rocker arms are removed.

That's just what I wanted to hear becouse I've done some more searching on the subject and it seems if you remove rocker you have to replace the bolts !
Anyone know the torque for the rocker cover bolts ?

Run a stock OEM head Gasket. If you are planning on going aftermarket ECU I would highly suggest upgrading your Valve Train.

Just to make shure. You are checking the exhaust valves right? The intake valves on my 2006 rxp read 72 but the exhaust valves read 75 just make shure you are reading on the exhaust valves. Imjust trying to save you some money and headaches. The ones the cause problems are the exhaust valves.
