Bought my first Ski yesterday. Wave Venture 700

Long story short it is in pristine condition! An older lady owned it and took great care of it. Gel coat is like new, all stickers in tact, no fading or ripping on the seat. Engine bay is so clean you could eat out of it. No salt water. Came with a Long trailer with an extended tongue and cooler basket. First things first I confirmed it was stone cold and performed a compression check. 150psi even on both cylinders! Carbs were not rebuilt, but replaced 13 hours ago with full maintenance history, service books, etc. It was about 2 hours away from me and posted on CL. When emailing her husband he said he wasn't 100% sure on the hours but it had about a little under 200 hours. When we fired it up last night I didn't think to check but today I looked and it is sitting at 114.8 hours, I was pleasantly surprised. It is still using the oil injection and all the lines and zip ties seem to be like new but I will still be spending the $15 to convert it to premix. They posted it as having 110hp for $1600 so I assumed it was an 1100. Upon arrival I quickly realized it was indeed a 700, which was great to use as a bargaining chip and talked them down to $1300. I'd like the thank all of the threads and posters on this forum for giving me all the info I needed to make sure it was a solid ski. Now I just have to be patient for summer to take it out!

Thanks guys! Other than the premix swap is there anything else I should do to keep her running for a long time? I may do a ride plate and such after I ride it stock.

Nice find! I just bought a wave venture 1100 for $650 and only had 103.7hrs on it and the motor was mint but the ski needed to be polished up and seat was just starting to crack so I replaced it. I have already done the premix conversion and now I just bought a riva groovy ride plate and intake grate. All that is left is the impeller and the jetworks valve and mine will be good to go.

You will really like the ride of it. The ski is very stable and handles pretty good for a big 3 seater and for its age. I was shocked how well mine did. I had both my kids (3 and 5) and my wife on it and it was still stable.

Have fun with it! You will learn a lot here

Always use good quality, fresh gas and 2 stroke oil. If the gas get old, suck it out and get some good stuff. Keep up on fuel system maintenance. Its the biggest killer of these 2 strokes.

You should be good to go for MANY years to come... The 701 is a beast as far as longevity goes.

You'll be thankful you didn't get the 1100 if gas keeps going up!
