Post 250x Jet pump bearing. true or false?

Kawasaki dealer replaced a jet pump on 2007 250x they said they didn't upgrade it to the 300 spec because Kawi has changed their bearing manufacturer. Does anyone know if this is true?

That is not true and it is highly recommend by both Kawi and anyone who knows anything that you need to upgrade to the 11 specs. Even if they did upgrade there bearing it still offers no protection if it where to ever go out. Play safe upgrade now!!!

I just upgraded my pump to 2011 spec myself about a week ago; bought 300x OEM parts from reputable dealer; bearings are identical to 250x OEM

    TRUE & FALSE:
It is TRUE that the bearing supplier has changed and the different Kawi P/N reflects that:
    Old P/N 92045-3740
    New P/N 92045-3744
But they are exactly the same - same dimension, same capacitiy, same everything. Except the price has gone up about $2.

But it is FALSE that you can't upgrade to the 300 spec because of the change in bearing supplier. You just need to get the new 300 shaft that takes 2 front bearings and a nut in the back.

    Meangreenman-
I have seen a lot of references to changing/upgrading an ultra 250x/260x to a 2011 300x spec. My b/f has an '09 ultra 260x but hasn't had any issues with the bearings, pump, etc. What is the benefit of upgrading, what exactly is upgraded and roughly what does it cost (when taking to the dealer-)?
    thanks!!

    Benefits?
    > Longer lasting jet pump bearings, less frequent maintenance and less cost = more riding time and more $$ for gas.
    > Saves engine! When (old) bearing setup fails, it hammers on crank end, pushing forward & resulting in complete engine failure. 300X setup = more riding time and more $$ for gas

    What is upgraded?
    > One more front bearing.
    > Nut in the rear to prevent the impeller shaft to go forward.

    Cost?
    > $100 in parts plus 1 hour labor charge if the tech is honest/competent.

    Here is an overview:

Any Kawasaki 2007-2010 big hull skis like Ultra 250X, 260X & LX can upgrade to the 2011 300X spec.

When time comes to rebuild the pump on your 2007-2010 Ultra pump, order following parts:
    13107-0728 - Shaft
    92015-1512 - Nut
    92045-3745 - Rear Bearing
    92045-3744 - Front bearings x 2
    92049-3739 - Seals x 3
92139-0767 - Tapered Bushing (new, replace)

There are 2 O-Rings on the shaft that may get damaged if not careful during disassembly or reassembly:
    92055-0183 -O-Ring (big)
    92055-025 - O-Ring (small)

Justa general guideline for when pump bearings should be checked/replaced:
Every 50 hours - if ridden really hard like in racing only.
Every 75 hours - if ridden mixed hard & casual.
Every 100 hours - if rec riding only.

I have rebuilt my pump like 3 or 4 times in the 245 hours I have had my Ultra 250x,
( I did one extra rebuild when I bought a used pump off of Mac on Ebay )
The front bearing will fail, it's only a matter of time.
I rode 60+ miles on a screaming front bearing last week, had to do it to get back to home base.............Thank God I had a couple of spare bearings laying around in my toolbox.
Switched them out and got right back on the lake the next day. I just bought the entire 2011 package with the seals and o-rings and will be rebuilding my pump next week. Just having the extra parts in there is worth the piece of mind, I have seen what that front bearing looks like after it gets trashed, with the old rear bearing looking like it's never even been used.
Let's hope there is a somewhat even distribution of load between all 3 of the bearings with the new setup. The old one was Terrible

Thanks so much for the info you guys. His 260 has about 75-80hrs on it now and we were talking last night about getting the s/c belt changed so this might be something to ask the dealer to do for us while it's there. It's a bit out of our technical ability and I think we'd feel better knowing that it was done correctly by the dealer (fingers crossed).

my dealer is telling me around $360 to do the upgrade including labor (2 hrs). Seems a little pricey.....?
