    Head Removal

Hi ihave used the search but cant find my answer, im trying to take the head off so i drained the coolant disconnect hoses etc.. i have take the washer out and un done the three bolts, they only thing i didnt do was find tdc and lock it in, so now i am stuck i have the valve cover off but cant get the chain tensioner and sprocket off do i have to undo the bolts holding the valve train in ???? Thanks in advance

You need to undo the timing chain tentioner on the inlet side of the block and slide the chain guide out from the exhaust side. Pull the sprocket off then drop the chain (tie it up of you like but you have to drop to get the head off anyway).

And remember tdc is on no 3 cylinder.

Have you taken the tensioner all the way out? Its the big Allen key plug on the inlet side it will give you enough slack to take the sprocket off and drop the chain.

Did you take the rocker shaft/rockers off?

I its not on TDC I would so you don't bend a valve!

The chain tensioner is about 100mm directly below the temperature sensor.
