    VX Cruiser Problems

New to the four stokes, My niece brought over her VX Cruiser with starting problems. She had replaced the battery which was low. I charged it overnight showing 14 volts. Ski acts as if the motor is locked up. It will not turn over. Im not sure where to start on this thing trouble shooting it. Maybe something in the pump, Or where would you guys start looking for the problem?

Lots of possibilities. Do ypu hear thestarter engage? Does it turn over at all?

Was it ridden recently? Could it be full of water?

If starter seems to want to spin, i would check the pump/impeller for obstructions, then i would pull the plugs and see if it spins without compression.

I am sure more knowledgeable people will check in soon. Good luck.

Pulled the rear plug and the motor is turning over now. The rear cylinder is blowing oil out of the plug hole More info her brother had overfilled the oil. What damage could of occured from this?

Is is straight oil or milky? These engines are very hard to check and adjust the oil level properly. Most people way over fill them. The potential is the same if the engine was hydro locked or locked up with oil. You can bend or break a rod or valve. If you only tried to start it one time or let up on it once you hear it not turn over you may be ok. If you kept trying or did not let up on the starter you may have caused damage.

The oil is straight not milky and it continues to come out of the rear cylinder when turning the motor over.

How much oil shows on the dip stick? Please check the air filter to see if it is saturated with oil. Any oil in other cylinders or just back one?

Turns out there was too much oil in motor. Sucked the extra oil out and everything seems to be alright now. Took it out for a test drive. Top speed was 45-47 mph. Should this be a little slow for a 1100? What is the top speed for one?

Look in the air filter box. If you had oil in #4 then it when thru the airfilter and throttle body to get there. I overfilled mine and had to pull it and wash everything out and buy a new filter. Change the spark plugs too. Mine does 53 mph on the speedo.
