GP1200 Head pitted - can it still be used?

Hi - new poster but have spent time on this great site.

Rebuilding a 2001 GP1200R - middle cylinder started making metal, crank locked up. Question - the dome of the head is pitted a bit, can I use a dremel and sand the rough areas down and still use the head? It isn't THAT bad but is pitted.

if you clean the high spots off it will still work, any raised areas will heat up.

Thank you for the input. I'll have the crank out tonight, I know it has at least one bad bearing (probably due to the metal) so a new one/rebuild is in my future.
