What are your rpms? You might be on the limiter if you go back to the 87mm nozzle. Depending on your budget, your next step might be a supercharger upgrade.

The ski will feel alot quicker, if you pitch the prop for 8100 rpms. Running the 87mm exit nozzle now will cause cavitation especially with the R&D grate. I would stay with the 83mm nozzle and pitch the prop.

+1, you will see more speed and better acceleration if you get them rpms up.

You could go with an upgraded charger and ecu, or do either one seperately.

Depending on your budget, you could stick with the stock x charger but get a vtech 8700rpm ecu reflash and upgrade the retainers. The ecu reflash will greatly increase acceleration and bump your rpms up a little more. You will need to take even more pitch out of the prop to turn 8600 rpms. Or you might even need to go back to 15/20 prop.

wouldn't 8700 require the full riva valve train kit and lightened valves? i thought retainers alone were only good to 8300 ?

Nope, many people are running 8600 with just retainers.

Les Cooke does 8400 ecu reflashes which he says is fine for stock valve train, but his 8650 reflashes requires lightweight retainers.

I personally went with the full valve train for peace of mind.

A quick word of advice before you start pushing up your RPMS and boost. Check to make sure your head bolts are torqued properly and if not bring them up to spec.
