    not really im just trying to get the shaft out of the pump,,the pump is junk but the shaft is like new ,i want to sale the shaft and stock impeller,but im not exactly sure how to get them apart,,my main concern is not damaging the driveshaft,,im not really concerned with the pump or impeller,,im converting to an 2006 pump setup.thanks jeff

    Jeff, if you have the spline holding tool. Hold it in place and use a pipe wrench on the "stock prop you dont care about" and turn it "the prop" clockwise. It's a reverse thread. If it's tight/stuck apply heat to the prop hub. Either press the shaft out or hammer it out with a brass hammer. If you do the latter put the nut back on to protect the threads of the shaft. Once you move the shaft forward a bit it will move quite easy so be carefull it doesn't fall out.

    Staring at the end of the shaft splines, impeller away from you

    * clockwise to remove
    * counterclockwise to install

    Jeff the bearings are press fit on to the shaft and the press fit into pump follow this post by Fernando and reverse the process to remove. I would remove the impeller before doing anything else.

    Billie this is a great link I had to learn all this the hard way. I actualy had the insert in a solas impeller spin inside. the wrench was turning the key but impeller was not moving thats when I went for the heat. Never done one without it since. makes it a whole lot easier no more cheater bars.
