Would like to do my own servicing, warranty affected?

I'm not usually in the habit of paying shops to do the easy stuff.

If I perform my own 10hr service will dealer try to hose me on warranty issues down the road?

What oil extractors have you guys had good luck with?

In your experience have the SHO motors needed plugs at 10Hrs?

I guess I need to buy a grease gun and the proper stuff for the intermediate shaft or something. I need one anyhow for the trailer bearings.

Use a Genuine Yamaha oil filter and Yamalube........and you should be fine, buy it from the dealer you would take it to for service,or you can buy your oil and genuine Yamaha filter from the online store..........keep your invoices

you do not need to change plugs at 10hrs, thats a waste of money! I have 25hrs on mine and they look fairly new still

+1. Get a hold of a service manual and it has everything laid out for you. I change plugs at 50 hours, but I would still take a look at yours at 10 hours.

It's unlawful for a dealer to void your warranty for doing your own service.

On a stock SHO you will easily get 50+ hours out of your spark plugs

Warranty's exist between the manufacturer and you - the purchaser. the dealer is just the guy who sells you the product for the manufacturer. As long as you do the service as stated in the service manual using the parts specified, then your warranty will be fine. The dealer can refuse to service your ski cos thats his right, but its not in his best interest for the brand if he does refuse you.

Anyway, do it yourself and save some $$$ for fuel!

Yamaha Dealer here. These guys are all dead right. You can absolutly do it yourself. Just Keep reciepts and records just in case. All manufacturers are different, but Yamaha is super easy to deal with. Hope this helps!
