    Tapping rocker arm

What causes Tap Tap Tap sound from the head for about 1-2 seconds upon start-up ? Just had head reworked with riva valvetrain ferra valves 5 angle ect ect. It's not cam chain I'm sure. Almost like it is loosing prime in oilers. Thoughts?

I have started it 5 or 6 times and every time it does it. I haven't heat cycled it yet just a few short runs on the trailer. If it was to continue after a few hrs put on it what would be causing that? I am running mobil 1 full synthetic ( no supercharger clutches)

hopefully your valves don't make contact with the pistons.

    Two possibilities:

    1. Your rockers are losing oil from the hydraulic lifter part, from a defective check valve in the lifter, or bit of dirt or grit stuck in the check valve.

    2. The 4-TEC engine is supposed to always stop with all 12 valves closed. If your engine is somehow stopping with one or more sets of valves open, the lifters for those valves will bleed down over a period of time even if the check valves are OK.

I have a lightened cam yes and riva pistons. The pistons are updated models-. Where is this check valve? I didn't assemble rocker shaft personally so im not sure what's going on. Oil pressure is good. What do I need to look at / inspect ? Should I run it up to temperature and see If it goes away?

not to get off subject but I was told that if you use any synthetic oil, it has to be one made for wet clutch applications, and that regular car synthetic oil has special anti friction agents that make your supercharger clutch slip too much,
