How to identify what year engine I have

I am helping a friend of mine part out his engine in his 2006 RXT. The issue is that the dealer installed a brand new engine in 2010. I am trying to see how I can I identify exactly what motor I have so people will know what exact parts I have.

    Any help is appreciated.

Ok, I have the engine all apart. From searching I have done it seems like it should have a serial number plate on the front of the engine. Do replacement engines directly from Sea-Doo normally have a plate? I am basically looking for visual differences in the engines external or internal over the years.

I think they changed some things in 2008. They told him this was newer engine design. He had a bad experience with a dealer that kept screwing up his original engine and was "rebuilding" it after the supercharger went. I think they rebuilt it every year for 4 years. Then he got fed up and seadoo put a new engine in it and they said it had the metal washers. That engine lasted 24 hours. So anyway I just want to know what I have in case I sell the parts so I can represent it accurately. I am kinda worried about the no engine serial number deal that sounds strange. I might have him call the dealer and talk to them about that.

If the dealer replaced the engine there should be a record of it in the ECU/Cluster and Buds or Candoo will show it.

the only thing i can think of is the supercharger oiling system would be updated on a 2010 engine from 06
