I don't f%&^ around . Just a little time every day. I haven't even had it home for a week and its torn to pieces and I'm starting to rebuild it. I really want to get the bottom done so I can get it back on wheels and be able to move it out of my garage to do other work if I need to.

Reminds me of my Pro project, I reckon 150-200 hours may be just about right. Good call on doing the bottom, look at a marine 2 part paint I did my pro with it and it hardens like a rock good for underwater application. Problem will be finding those hours and keeping motivation during the winter!

I decided to pull the flywheel this afternoon. I have a nice little gouge in my concrete garage floor from the flywheel hitting it when it came flying off. And I was lucky enough to get the broken piece of starter out of the flywheel housing. I guess letting some WD 40 soak into it for a few days did the trick. Some evening this week while watching TV I will get the cases split and fully check out the crank. So far it seems to be good, no slop in the rods and it seems to turn smoothly.

    Progress on the bottom

I got the epoxy based filler I mixed up sanded out today and it came out great so far. Was a little hard to sand, but I got it all feathered out and all of the gouges are filled in. The bow strakes were really beat up, so they needed a second application of epoxy to get the final shape right.

At this point I don't really care what it ultimately ends up costing me, I just want to end up with an X45 in showroom new condition.

YES!!!!!!!!!!! But finding rub rails that look that good will be nearly impossible. I know I can get the front and rear ones new, but the sides would be hard to get. My side rails are decent, just a little faded.
