Tis the season! To look at another project!

going to look at a 99 SLTH w/ the 700 twin domestic. Owner claims its a basket case w/ a bad cylinder. Both cylinders are removed, engine is still in ski, how can I tell if the crank is bad? (or can I?) Thanks guys!

If the ski is in nice shape go for it regardless of the engine. I have one and I love it!!!!! The 700s are cheap to rebuild.

assume the entire motor will have to be rebuilt and buy accordingly.non running skis simple won't bring much

Yep ^^^^, It's hard to truly know with a crank unless it is out of the ski, Crank bearings could be rusted or pitted and still feel smooth.
