    Question Pump question

I have a 94 sl750 and a parts slx780 . Can I use the pump out of the 780 in the 750? The pump in the 780 is like new and the in the 750 needs a rebuild.

Do you mean jet pump? '94 was the first year of the 146mm modular jet pump so it will be completely compatible with the SLX pump parts. However, be certain to use the impeller from your '94. The SLX impeller will be too much for your 750 and will reduce performance.

Yes, performance loss will be noticeable. The SLX780 made 90+ HP while the 750 engine makes 80HP. The greatest loss will be top end performance (Slower, lower max RPM) and you may see less acceleration.

The impeller is easily removed from the stator. You can swap the two of them in less than 10 minutes.

Actually, the modular pump is 148mm and the 1995 SLX 780 shared the same impeller as the 750 for that year. impeller # 5131079

What year SLX do you have?

Oops you're right it's 148mm. I thought the 780 got a higher pitch but I should have looked at the manual before I shot from the hip. Did the SLX just have a higher rev limiter?
