    Installing 06 215 4-Tec into 03 GTX SC

I'm trying to drop an 2006 215 4-TEC into a 2003 SeaDoo GTX SC. The 185 SC engine in the 03 GTX was trashed, rod went thru the case. The issue I'm having right now is I didn't get a SuperCharger with the 2006 215 engine. I tried to slide in the SuperCharger from the 185 engine but is not going in. I'm thinking the drive gear is maybe bigger on the 185 SC versus the drive gear on a 215 SC??? The other issue I also have also come across is the crank sensor plug is different on the 06 215 versus the 03 185 but they are still only 2 wires. I was thinking maybe I could just splice the old 185 crank sensor plug onto the 215 crank sensor wires??? If anyone knows of any other issues I could have installing this engine into this ski, please by all means drop me a note. I really appreciate all and any help I can get with this install.

P.S. WENT WITH AN 05 215 MOTOR TO AVOID WIRING/ SENSOR ISSUES.

Your 185 supercharger gear will not mess up with the 215 flywheel you might be able to change out your gear on your charger

You need to change the gear on the SC the 185 is 17 tooth and the 215 is 16. The crack trigger can be spliced the other problems you need to address is the oil pressure switch you need the one from the 185. You also need to ground the harness for the TOPs oil sender and then install a resistor in the harness for the TOPs solenoid.

the gears are different one is a 16 tooth the other a 17 tooth. Depending on how many hours are on the charger it might make better sense to just have it rebuilt using a RXP/RXT kit. If possible too, I would locate an aluminum pump assembly, the plastic ones in the GTX suck, also get a RXT drive shaft and impeller, as well as the correct carbon seal parts. Easier to do while its all apart anyway.

Your also going to need to get a 215 fuel pump or at the very least a 215 regulator for your pump and while its out replace the fuel strainers on it. Not to mention a 215 ECM.

Unfortunately, you have some additional issues, besides the obvious SC issue. The '06 is a one-year off electrical system in that it has the late-style oil breather and oiling system, the late cluster, late crankshaft sensor, but the early ECU/MPEM pairing scheme. First off, you cannot use the '03 ECU as it isn't mapped right for the 215 engine. You will need a 215 ECU. If you have, or can get, the '06 ECU for that engine, then it will be mapped right for the TOPS/breather system, late crankshaft and oil sensors, but it requires the '06 cluster as well. An alternative would be to use a '04-05 215 ECU, but they aren't set up for the late sensors, so you may have some work to do (I forget all you need to do.....) And you might need to change some setting in the MPEM. (with Candoopro or BUDS)

Thanks guys for the all great info!! I guess there is a whole lot more to consider before dropping this motor into the GTX hull. I do have the complete wiring harness for the 06 engine and the MPEM, so maybe I'll have to swap out the old GTX wiring and install the 06 harness & MPEM. I don't have the 06 215 ECU but I'm sure between here & eBay I can find one. I'm now debating weather to just rebuild the old 185 engine or continue with this engine swap. Well this is one of 4 project Skis for me 2 2003 GTX SC both blown motors (Rod went thru case) and 2 Yamaha GPRs one GP1300r and a GP1200R that I plan on doing conversion on. Thanks again for all the info, constantly learning on this site & loving' it!!!!

Let me know if you need anything I have done a few swaps in the past and have lots of parts laying around. I also have a Candoo system I can demonstrate its capabilities if needed. Im in Hamden.

Thanks I'd appreciate any and all help I can get with this project. Looks like the biggest hurdle is all the electrical issues, ecu programming, ect. I'm gonna work on getting a 215 charger for it first then proceed from there.
