Gprxp newbie conversion project
Starting a GPRXP Conversion project and still somewhat of a newbie. I am very mechanically inclined and rebuilt and modified my other GP1200R when it trashed a cylinder last summer. I picked up this 2000 Yamaha GP1200R last Fall from someone locally and it also has a trashed piston and cylinder. So yesterday(Sunday 3-18-12) with the great weather started ripping out all the guts out of her. Took apart the huge exhaust pipe assembly, pulled the engine out, wiring, gas tank, etc.
I don't need any of the GP1200R Engine parts, wiring, & whatever I won't need for conversion. If anyone needs any of this stuff hit me with a PM. I would list it in the marketplace but don't think I have enough posts yet.
One of the cylinders is trashed and the piston is gone, but the other two cylinders look ok. If there is someone locally that would pick the entire motor up that would be better than taking it all apart.
I'm located in the Hartford, CT area. Oh yeah the previous owner put a GP1300R graphic kit on it, it is indeed a GP1200R!! I think after completion gonna have to change that to a GP1500R..
Once engine, wiring, gas tank, and engine mounts were all out.
Gonna have too look up the exact measurements and info on the necessary cut outs. I have seen some info and looks pretty easy.
I welcome any info and suggestions. I got some other Ski projects going and doing all at the same time gets expensive!! I'm gonna take my time on this one and hopefully have her running by this summer.

Good start all the info you need is in the FAQ section. You have enough (25) posts to list your parts in the classifieds. If you have any questions or need help im not far away.

Thanks, I'm sure I will be needing some guidance on this project. This site was the biggest reason for going ahead and attempting this. I'll put up pics as I go to and welcome anyone to chime in with any suggestions. I'll put up the pics over on the marketplace.

Awesome bro. take Beerdart up on that offer. He's a huge wealth of knowledge when it comes to these ski's. I rode mine yesterday for the first time since Nov and forgot how awesome it was to ride. Nothing like a gprxp.

I'm going to need a lot more interest in more motor parts before I start parting it out.
