    Computer card question

Someone here will know, I have an old PCI card that I want to use. It runs DMX 512 protocols. It was in a Win95 machine that died. I want to put it in something that can run XP and has USB ports. I have a couple of older boxes that are capable of that but none have a slot for this card. Can you get a motherboard for this card, are they still available? Is there an adapter. The USB version of this card is $1200 so I want to make the one I have work.

I will talk to my engineer at work tomorrow. We might have something.

I'm surprised none of your other machines have PCI slots. With the exception of high end gamer boards that have a stack PCI-X slots, most MB's still come with at least 1 or 2 PCI's. You can usually find outdated but decent MB's on Newegg dirt cheap. Only thing I'd suggest is try & find a board that uses the same chipset as one of your existing machines, because that might save you the hassle of reinstalling the OS & all your programs.

Are you sure that isn't ISA and not PCI? It looks to be ISA and if that is the case, you might be out of luck.

I spoke to the engineer in my office and as I suspected, it is an ISA card. No adapters are available and you won't find a current motherboard that will have an ISA slot. Looks like you need to look into buying a new DMX card. Instead of a USB version, you should look into PCI or PCI Express options.

So that's an ISA card. Couldn't figure it out. It is old, I know that. There is a PCI card on eBay at $200, guess I should bid.
