    Beginning Season Issues

Hey guys. I have a '00 1200R. All this is information I am about to say comes from my dad over the phone, so...yea.

Anyways, he said that he went to take it out Monday night for the first time. It was winterized by a local boat repair shop, and then stored for the winter. He said that it rolled over twice, and from what he told me he couldn't keep it running. He said it smoked like a banshee too. He took the plugs out and he said they were very wet. I thought maybe he just went through some bad gas or something, but stabil should have been put in if it were professionally done. Any other guesses, or anything he should check? Thanks.

Maybe he was just burning off the fogging oil? How long did he run it for?

Was it fogged with fogging oil? Did they get it ready for him to ride?

I'm not sure how long he ran it...and I don't know if they did anything to get it ready for him. I wasn't aware that your supposed to do anything to "summerize" it before you ride for the first time.

The only thing you are supposed to do is charge your battery and run it to burn off the fogging oil. If fogged right the motor will smoke like a 1920's locomotive for a good 2 or 3 minutes.

He said it smoked a lot...and an emphasis on A LOT lol, so I would assume this is the issue. But would this would explain the issue of not staying started or having a hard time to start?
    Thanks for the help btw.

And if it smoke that much, then at least you know they were generous on the fogging oil! I rather see that than not having enough fogging oil and rusting parts!

Just called him. He said that he got it started for about a minute and it shut off, then it would only roll over. He checked the plugs and they were very fouled and wet he said. Then he actually did put in brand new plugs, and still could only roll it over and he said those were wet too.

Maybe try removing all the plugs & cranking it to blow out some of the excess oil like you would do when you get water in the motor. It sounds like it's just fouling the plugs before it's able to burn out the fogging oil.
