    Advise on Pump rebuild and prop

    So I've read all the info I could find on the bearing mod (double front bearing and lock bolt) on both this site and the other... just a couple questions. After installing both front bearings into the front behind the 3 seals and loading up the voids with marine grease I have THREE dilemmas. The first is the small o-ring on the shaft doesn't stay in the notch when i install the shaft into the pump. What am i doing wrong? Second problem is the shaft when pushed all the way in wants to bounce back.... too much grease i thought but after removing some it still seems to want to bounce back... should be fine when impeller, once tightened on, will hold shaft where it needs to stay.. Thirdly, I ordered a new prop from Dave at Impros which he recommended the Solas concord 15/23. IT is SOO SNUG. Cant spin it at all even with torque wrench.. surprised i got it back out. Do Impellers really need a lot of sanding down or what? I have looked in shop manual regarding oring and bearings and did not receive any help. Thanks in advance.

    the shaft will push back due to the air being trapped in the cavity................NORMAL

    Oring , well if you used the OEM size , try some rubber grease on it ( sounds like wrong size Oring )

    If the prop is correctly rebuilt and the truesize then you may have a swollen pump housing, options are either buy new housing or sand the prop down so it can spin in your current housing , but only remove the least metal as possible if you go this path.
