Turning your oil Tank into a reserve gas tank....Has anyone done it???
Since I switched my 99'Polaris SLTX to premix(50:1) I was wondering If I could turn my oil tank into a fuel reserve tank? and has anyone done it...or should I just not bother with it..

I would think the capacity is too small to mess with it.

I met a guy at the lake a few years ago that used it as an oil dispenser. He had a hose and a valve on it. That way he didnot need to carry quarts of oil in his ski on a long ride with re-fueling stops.

Only thing I would fear is having the hose fall off the bottom of the tank. Losing all the oil into the bilge not such a big deal. Losing all the gas into the bilge... kaboom!

You could go one step further and keep a siphon tube/primer bulb in the ski along with a Ratio-Rite mixing bottle, and as LaveyT said, use that as an emergency oil source if you have to gas up at a dock on the lake.
