    Skat impeller question

Hi guys, I bought a 12/17 off Ebay a while back (long before I became a member and got educated on pwc) for a Polaris. At least that's what it was advertised to fit. Well, without hesitation I sent it to Skat Trak for some custom work. When it came back it was now in a box labeled Kawasaki 1100. I figured someone just threw it in the wrong box. When I did my 650/750 conversion my mechanic told me the impeller didn't work. It bottomed out on the stator before it ever got torqued to specs. I sold it to a guy with a Kaw 1100 who tells me the driveshaft is too small inside the impeller. Does anybody know what this may fit? It threads onto a Polaris stub shaft, accepts a Polaris driveshaft, but doesn't fit on a Polaris pump? I'm stumped, there's no serial # to track what it's for. Thanks

You need a longer spacer or grind the stator. Wow far off is it??

I was reading that thread and wondered if it would work for me, it just might. It's not far off at all. BUT there are 2 differences with this one and the other Skat 12/17 I got off Gorilla. In the pic I took, you notice how the trailing edge of blade "upsweep"? This one's go "straight" across, causing light rubbing of the impeller and stator vanes. Once again, the longer spacer should help there too, but I'm just explaining the difference between these 2. And the bottom of the impeller, the "hub" I think it's called is a little longer, maybe 1.5mm. This is what binds before it is tightened. I'd take a pic of it, but it's in the mail currently. I don't know, it just seems like it's not the right one.

Grinding the stator will only cause the vanes to collide with the trailing edges the way they are.

Skat would offer some wheels in "long" and "short" blade configurations. The longer spacer should do the trick for you.

The following pic is just to demonstrate the diff. Notice the diff. in the space between the edge of the impeller and the table.

It's possable that the one you have that is "swept up" has been modified also??

That is exactly what my 2 impellers look like next to each other. Cool, now I just need a longer spacer, new seals and might as well give her new bearings too, dam! I don't believe the impeller was modified, the new one for a 1050 looks the same way. And all the 4 blade stock impellers have a big "upsweep". Any clue of where to get a longer spacer?

After it came back today, I inspected it more thoroughly. It does appear to have been modified or a short blade from Skat as Crazy had said. The one on the right and last pic is the impeller in question. It does seem I only need a longer spacer. Thanks guys

I did some looking into this, and concluded Crazy was right, I needed a different size spacer. I'm actually happy about this, now I have 2 like new (factory refurb) Skat swirls, one 12/17 and one 13/18 cutback 5mm to experiment with.

    prop

i believe the longer blade prop was made to run on an 8 vane setup as they have a different angle on the leading edges
