Just finished making my first rack. Does anyone do any fishing out of the Houma/Grand Isle area? Click image for larger version.

Hey Brandon - Nice rack! And welcome to the 'Hulk. I fish out of Bob's By Black Marina in Gibson which is a little east of you. Bass, reds and sometimes specs when they're running.

I tried to go after some specs in Montegut yesterday but I only had a few bites and caught some small ones. Did you ever hear about anyone leaving out of Fourchon and try to caught some cobia?

IDK of anyone in Fourchon... but there are a few guys on here that fish off of GI by PWC once or twice a year. But I'm not one of them, yet...

I fish outta cocodrie when I get the chance. Also I am gearing up to go offshore for snapper and cobia within the next few weeks. I'm just waiting on a few things I ordered and waiting on the right weather. I do have two other guys that will be making trip with me. Your more than welcome to come along. I have been looking for people to come because the more people I know that will go the better it will be for me being that I will never go alone.

Im definitely down to join yall on that trip. I agree the more people the better out there bc things can happen very fast. What other gear do you think is needed for a safe trip out there? I want to be prepared just like yall are.

I'm going to be honest. I've been fishing off of my ski for years and have never been offshore. (off the ski that is). The two guys coming with me fish mostly offshore, but first time off of they're ski. The safety gear is endless. You could literally spend thousands depending on what you want. I don't know if this changes you're mind or not but it's all our first ski trip out there. Check this video out.

I figured if a ski makes it through this, we should be ok lol.

I agree if they can make it though those waves we should be ok lol.

Do you think it would be a good idea to make some type of rig hook so we can simply hook up down current and not have to worry as much of being pulled into the rig while trying to fish?

It's strictly up to you, but we plan to drift fish along the rigs. I see you have an rxp, do you know your range per tank?
