    Project STX-R

I found a really good deal on Craigslist a couple months ago and got around to working on my project last month. I am thinking about this as a second ski but I may be forced to sell because my new place doesn't have the room to store 2 ski's. After further research, I talked with Eric Francis at Dave's Auto Body and found out this was his retired race ski that he won 3 consecutive IJSBA world titles with at Lake Havasu and sold it with 40 hours on it. It now has 63!!! The motor was out of the ski as the owner after Eric was trying to get the jet pump out. Don't know why the engine would have to be removed. lol. Came with Continental single trailer.

The ski came with a few nice upgrades. It had the full UMI steering system, R&D rideplate, Worx intake grate, Agresser Sponsons, SkatTrak impeller, and a few other simple mods. I have since stripped it down, Sanded, Painted, Installed new bars, Hydro Turf Mats, ODI grips, Triple Pisser kit, and a new Jet pump. I also tore the motor down to its pistons and inspected everything. You can still see the factory cross-etching on the cylinder walls from the factory so this motor is like new. I then re-assembled with all new factory gaskets and did a carb cleaning. All of the oil injection lines have been replaced with Tygon . Here are a few pictures to show the progress and I should have it on the water in a few weeks. More pics to come...

    How I bought it

    Sanded and stripped

ready for paint in our homemade paint booth

    Top Deck painted

    Green parts on

    New mats installed

    New bars and railings installed

Nice paint job/ski. If I was to ever buy a Kawasaki one day a STX-R is first on the list for sure.

They GPS 64-65 stock. They weigh in around 640lbs so they are pretty light for a 3 seater. This one is stock motor. It ran in the Stock limited class.

Here is a STX-R build. It was built for closed course racing.

New paint looks good but what kind or style graphics are you getting on the ski?

I'm going with mostly the stock 2005 STX-R graphics. Exotic Signs makes kits and I believe Johnny5 even got his kit from them. I will post pics soon when I have the kit in place.
