Pulling tubes, knee boards and wake boards

    Hello all,

I'n new to the PWC scene. Just got a Kawa 1100 stx.

My question is about pulling someone on a tube, knee board or even a wake board. I know about the 3 person rule and such. Just curious if anyone has any experince and lessons learned.

I did find some info on a wake board site, but I am sure those guys really need a boat. I'm not looking to break records just have causual fun with friends.

    thanks

    Wax man

The most important thing I can offer, which you've likely already checked out, is be sure you understand your local law/code regarding towables and riders via a PWC. The wife & I have taken turns pulling the kids and never had any problems.

So in NJ, the law states that every tow ski/boat must have a driver and spotter. There also must be enough room on the ski for the person/people in tow.

For example, with my GTI (3 seater) I can tow 1 person behind. I can not tow with my GPRXP (2 seater).

Now, generally when I'm out with the tube, I've got 2 people on the tube, 1 spotter, and me driving. Technically this is illegal since there is not enough room for the 2 in tow, on the ski. I've done this for about 4 years now and never ran into trouble. However, I always stick close enough to shore and I try to keep to myself and avoid others.

Nobody should take offence to this, but I've also found out that I know the laws regarding boating in NJ better then some of the people teaching the laws and enforcing them. I've also realized that if you are nice to those who inforce the laws and respect them, they aren't going to give you a hard time.

    Enjoy!

    thanks guys.

I was actually wanting more info regarding how easy is it to pull a wake boarder or knee border. Is there a type of tube that works better for PWC. how long the rope should be. etc

    thanks

I have no problem pulling a knee boarder. never done wake boarding. water skiing takes a little bit more power to get the skier out of the water, but not terrible. i assume waxe boarding would be the same.

i'd go for a smallish tube. you don't want some massive thing behind a ski. plus, the tube WILL pull the back end of the ski out, when you make a turn. be prepared for that.....

just a standard tube rope, i'm not sure how long it is, but whatever they sell at the sporting goods store is what i use.

All towing skis/boats in NJ must also put up their flag to signal they're towing something as well.
