2 Cracked SHO hulls at Karujet 2012

These hulls were taken to the limit at Karujet 2012 !! The 2012 SHO delaminated, repairs were done to keep them in the race.

Holy Mackeral!!! What kinda conditions were you guys racing in? Down the side of a mountain?!? Happened to more than one apparently. Were they both or all 2012? Could be wrong but those don't look like 2012's. This is what the nose of a 2012 looks like... http://www.yamahawaverunners.com/sit.../fx_sho_01.jpg

The last two pictures is of a 2012. The big mirrors are gone thats why it looks different, also the grill is broken up in the decal a little bit.

You are right. Number 14 is a 2012 but the one with Soguamar on the side isn't it looks to me. Strange.

Doesn't really matter but there has to be a explanation as to why the delamination.

Without a more detailed explanation, these Pics indicate the Hulls had prior contact with some other foreign object, in the event or otherwise, which would initiate a deterioration of any Hull on any boat. JB

My congratulations to the winner of this event, but to say the Ultra won based on inconclusive details on the SHO's part is not correct. Your Post would be more welcomed (and more tolerated) on the KAW Forums . . . JB

This event truly tests the ability of these hulls, over 100 skis, 5 yamahas, 3 sea Doos and the rest kawasaki 300s. One course (there were at least 6 over 3 days) was over 70 miles in open ocean 4-6 ft seas, riders were flying 8 ft in the air at times. I spoke to some of the underdogs (seadoo riders) and they said they will be riding a 300 next year, just because it is the best hull in the ocean.

The best hull in the ocean is a boat. The bigger the boat and more horsepower the better. Since the 300 is closest to a boat I would expect it would do well in those conditions. Eventually the question will become when is a PWC not a PWC anymore. Is a craft over 1,000lbs a boat or a PWC? Not disparaging the Kawi and racers should race what wins but it is in a different class bridging PWC and boat. Just like in the America's Cup when Conner won with a catamaran against mono hulls only reversed in this case.
