Okay I have another 2012 rxpx intake question

Just removed all hoses prepping for my mods to my 12 rxpx and I have an intake question. How does the 4 inch intake really benefit in any way when the stock supercharger has a 3 inch permanent inlet. Also I didn't see any filter element at all for my engine when I removed the air box up front. Is there supposed to be one?

The supposed restrictive oem air box and tube didn't look restrictive at all to me

Will be restrictive if you change to a much larger (higher Boosting) S/C along with other mods.

There is no Air Filter with the OE Setup.

A 4" Intake will GREATLY Help Out.

Even if you Add a Bigger S/C later on, a 4" Intake will still Flow enough.

There is a HUGE difference is the volume of air between stock and 4" kanaflex. Danny did a flow test years ago and verified that the stock flexible rubber hose is the most restrictive in the stock configuration.

A filter is not REQUIRED but, most of us don't want to take the chance of anything hitting the SC while turning 40,000 rpm!

You WILL see a big improvement in over all performance. These engines need a lot of fresh air!

    that is crazy!

That is crazy! No air filter on a 4stroke engine. This is my first 4stroke, but that doesnt make any sense. It cant be good to suck up dust, small insects, and basically anything. Almost seems like Seadoo engineered that into the equation to make these engines fail after a period of time.

Reliability has to increase HUGE with just the addition of an quality huge air filter element.

No PWC has an Air Filter in it Stock. They may have some kind of Mesh Screen, but there is NO Filter.

You're not going to Encounter the same kind of Airborne "Debris" you would with a Road Driven Vehicle.

The only thing to worry about with a PWC is Water Intrusion.

    duramaxxed,
Your statement that no PWC has an air filter in it stock is NOT correct. All 4 stroke yamaha's have a paper element air filter in the air box.
    Thanks,

First I've Heard of an Air Filter on a PWC.

Over Time, I'm sure it would get quite Moldy...Warm, Dark, and Humid is just what Mold Likes!
