innovate AFR sensor install on SHO

I bought the brass threaded insert from the Performance store. The one that goes into the exhaust where the plug comes out on my SHO.
When I thread the sensor into the brass fitting it sticks out a good bit. The install instructions from Innovate say the tip of the sensor should be flush. Is this a problem?
