Can 787 water box be repaired?

Is it worth repairing the baffle that always breaks? Can it just be removed and ran without?

its probably cheaper to buy a used one than fixing it. On the other hand, I think that it would be a bit louder but I dont think that the drone would be terrible if you just removed it. maybe the same price to have it cut open and removed than to buy a used one?

My ride buddies 96XP has a great tone compared to mine even though mine has a R&D pipe and 98SPX white waterbox(better flow). I can see where someone has welded his stock(purple) waterbox back together. I always thought it was done for the improved flow and tone, but maybe the baffle just broke.
