Thread: Fiberglass repair

I've been looking for a small fiberglass repair kit. I have a small area where the glass is chipped(1/2 X 2" area) but most the repair kits i have found are for bigger areas

gelcote international sells the smallest kits ive seen so far,
plus they match the color for you...
if not, maybe youd have luck finding fiberglass repair kits locally,
you can find the fiberglass resin in any hardware store that sells things for boats, rvs and so on...
but ive never seen them sell smaller quantities than gelcote..
but you can make your own kit for cheaper...
hope i helped.

What hull are you repairing? MOst hulls out there now require epoxy resin to do the repairs. Polyester will not stick.

Look into MarineTex to repair your hull. That is what I used on mine just a few days ago. I cannot attest to how well it will hold up, but if you look around the forums there are plenty of people who have used it and swear by it. Here are a few pictures of my damage before and after I applied the Rapid Set Marine Tex. It was a simple 1:1 mix and actually pretty fun to use.
Unfortunately the guy I purchased the ski from was one of those idiots who doesn't have common sense when it comes to protecting an investment. Oh well, it's all fixed now.
