Center of Gravity on the Ultra

I started this thread yesterday and it seems to have vanished. It probably didn't post when I hit the button?

There had been some discussion about where the center of gravity is on the new Ultra. Someone suggested that it might be further back from the bow than other PWC. This would be a good thing performance wise. I looked at the big photo in the Kawi Jet Ski brochure of the Ultra...It is a view looking down on it from above and showing a cut out of the engine location. It seems that the engine is located rear of the mid point in the hull. The front of the engine is lined up with the skis midpoint. This seemed good until I checked where the engine is located on some other skis. On the GTX/RXT the front of the engine is about 14" REARWARD of the hull midpoint. The older style GTX has it 10" rear of midpoint and the Ultra 150 has the front of the engine several inches forward of the midpoint. This probably explains why the 150 seems nose heavy at idle speeds. These measurements would seem to confirm that the new Ultra's C.O.G. is forward of the competitions, especially considering that the battery is located in the bow and the fuel tank has a greater capacity. This is not conclusive evidence however, because the Ultra engine is a four cylinder and it's C.O.G. is not known. Just some food for thought.
