2001 GP1200 Waverunner... Acceleration without Choke Problem
I just bought a 2001 waverunner GP1200 and I have two questions...... First, I was told to check the compression before buying to make sure it was good. Cylinder 1- 110 lbs, Cylinder 2- 110 lbs, Cylinder 3- 95 lbs. I was told thats within a acceptable range, is it ok? Second, the ski starts right up with no choke on but has to be at half choke to accelerate. If not at half choke it will just bogg down and eventually die if the throttle is pushed to long. With the choke half on it will acclerate without hesitation and go pretty dang fast without any misfiring or bogg down. Though I do remember a 1999 GP1200 I had would jump on take off and had alot more power than this one. I was told it is almost certainly that the carbs need to be cleaned and thats all. Do you agree? Any suggestions on fixing the issue and proper maintenance are greatly appreciated...

Compression is not good...... low and variation.... if you have to choke a motor to make it run....carbs need a rebuild............

DO a compression test with no throttle and full choke and all plugs out let us know what you get.
