    GP1200R crankshaft problem

I bought a crankcase upper and lower with crankshaft online and was said the assembly was good. I have inspected the assembly and all looks good except the #3 connecting rod appears to have had alot of heat on the wrist pin end of the rod. The bearing surface is questionable and I need advise on what I should do about it. Can I polish the surface and run it or do I need to replace the rod? Any advise on getting the rod replaced, who to send it to- how much will it set me back? I have already spent too much money on this waverunner and need to do a reliable repair without getting a divorce over it. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Click image for larger version.

Heat is BAD I would not use that crank. By the time you pay shipping both ways ant the cost of the repair from crank works or exchange with sbt it might be better to go new or find another GOOD used one. Better safe than sorry and a lot of down time and money.

    Don't use it!
If it breaks, it WILL tear up you crankcase/cylinder/reed, Dont even ask how i know this
Replacing the rod is not easy, and must be done by a prof.
I would go back to the guy who sold you this, and explain.
Make sure to get a GOOD ( used ) crank, and rebuild the crankcase.

To get rid of the silicon gasket, i would reccom loctite gasket cleaner. saves you 3 hours work!

Good luck!, let us know how this works out

Use Loctite 7200 for all your nasty gasket problems, this eliminates scratching and cutting

Thank you for your advise, I am not going to use it, I found a shop locally that can replace the rod fairly reasonably.
