    might buy 1998 GTX

The guy knows nothing about the ski, he is going to contact me when it gets out of storage but its a great deal. all he knows is it's a 98 and it needs a battery but runs great. I have a 04 gtx sc but im looking for another less expensive ski.

what should I look out for?
is this the 787 or 951?
What should the compression be and what size adapter do I need to conduct a copmression test.
Probably won't have a chance to water test it before i buy so anything I can look out for would be helpful.

    Thank you!

the '98 GTX LTD has a 951. I wouldn't buy it w/out a water test unless it's so cheap you can rebuild the engine.

if it has the whie 951 motor and pipe/ walk away. there were inherent design flaws with this motor. If its silver you should be ok. compression should be 135psi +/- 5 psi per cylinder

Should be silver. White only came in the 97.5 gsxl. If it is burgundy, it has the 951 carb. If it is gold, it has the 787 fuel injected engine.

well so much for that. saw it on CL guy emails me back and says it's in storage and he will let me know as soon as he can show it. Today I got an email saying he sold it. it was a 98 gtx with double trailer for 1000 obo. I was thinking about fixing it up and flipping actually. Ski's seem really high right now in se wi.

1k for a working ski + double trailer. I'd have done that deal!

I paid $900 for a '99 GTX LTD w/a blown engine and a single trailer!
