    fuel pump sl 900

Can a high volume fuel pump be installed as a primary pump ahead of the two carb pumps on an sl900? On a car an electric pump can be installed ahead of a manual pump making the manual pump just a pass through. If or when the electric pump fails the manual pump takes over. Would it work the same on a jet ski assuring there is never fuel pressure loss in the event of a single pump failure?
Also, after six months of storage my fuel tank still has pressure in it, should this be the case, or should the pressure have vented?

There is no reason to do that. The stock pumps supply plenty of fuel. There is a pressure check valve on the tank vent. It will hold 1.5 PSI of pressure

It seems like more than 1.5 PSI. When I disconnect the line it sprays out. Maybe I should change the check valve.Click image for larger version.
