Need Cover that will fit Aftermarket Bars

Hello All. I just bought a 2008 GP1300r and so far so good its a blast.

    Here is the ski:

Here is the dilemma, it has a set of ProTaper bars on it that are wider than stock at 33" tip to tip. The new stock cover I picked up is only 30" wide in the widest part of the handlebar section - thus it doesn't fit. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good high quality cover that is slightly wider in the bar area? Picture below:

Sorry for the low quality pic - flash and iPhone aren't the best for night shots. Any help is greatly appreciated, I have already learned a lot by just searching around these forums.

cut a slit in one side, or both sides so it will fit... you can even take it to a upholstery guy to sew bar extensions on it

I have a few customers that have done this

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into that. Rather than cut up a $200+ stock cover - are they any suggested high quality aftermarket covers?

i put an fx cover over mine (as it had after market bars on it) /// as long as you are not traveling it's the best //// it will cover most of the sides ( i hook it to the sponsons) and even wraps down under the pump in the back lmk i have one for sale also you can check fit it if you are local before buying

Hey - that sounds like a good solution for me. Do you have any pictures of it covering a 1300? I am pretty local to you - what do you want for the cover?

Wow...Ive had the same problem as I have the Pro Taper wide low ride(ricky carmichael)...like mentioned in other posts there's a few solutions....I have an original cover so I removed the bottom elastic, make a small slit on the nose of cover, take rope to the front tie it down to the trailer..then take a bungee cord and in those middle loops on the cover go under and around the ski and loop on to the other side...for the back that already have slits,do the same with short bungee cords to trailer....stays down when trailering for me...
