    Oil pump gear

How do you remove the oil pump gear in the bottom of the crankcase to install a blockoff kit?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Did you get the block off plate only? Or the plate with the blank?

Blank?? You guys mean the insert?
If you're talking about the insert, it is better, but non measurable with stock to very mild mods.
It does keep the crank case volume corrected with the missing gear or cog assembly.
In theory, the more space you can take up in the cases the faster revving the engine will be.
It's another added bonus to running a full circle crank vs. the pork chop style crank.

so if I just go with the plate with no insert I won't be risking stability or possible damage to the engine or case, etc?

nada, but for the few bucks extra, I just really like to get it closer to the original configuration.
Remember the pulse to the pump will also be weaker, measurable? probably, a big deal? doubt it.
