2012 FZS Oil Filter Wrench - Please show where to buy?

    Hi Everyone
I bought several oil filter wrenches from auto part stores but they could not remove the FZS oil filter due to slippage. I went to a local Yamaha but they did not have the right oil filter wrench. I contacted Parker Yamaha and they told me that they would get me one from K&L supplier for about $75. Is there anyone selling the right oil filter wrench for 2012 FZS online? Please point me to the right seller. Thanks. Vincent

I got a socket type oil filter wrench from Napa autoparts. I am away right now, otherwise I would give you the exact size/ model number. It is a three step wrench and I believe the sizes are 68mm, 70mm, and 72mm. It was 7$

I use channel-locks to get them off. The filter shouldn't be anywhere near as tight as the original I took off. Somebody was pissed off at the factory when they put that thing on. Other than that I just use channel-locks to get it loose. A pair of NAPA 77-3508 pliers will work too for smaller filters.

I just took my new filter into advance auto and matched up the socket filter wrench to the filter. Dont get much easier than that. Think it was $5-7

i use a conventional metal strap wrench.

Take some back electrical tape and wrap the strap on the wrench with the sticky side of the tape facing out, so the adhesive sticks to the filter when you crank down on it. I have to do this a lot on sterndrives that do not have a remote oil filter.

I gave up on all that crap. I use some oil filter pliers from HF on my tougher cases. Work like a charm even on the really aggravating ones. Under $10

    The only time......

I actually HAD to use one of those bs fluted wrenches/cap gizmos was on a honda ski..no room for anything else and luckily, it actually worked ( well I did beat the tar out of it before attempting to turn it). My easy fix after that was to use a kn filter with that big nut on top. Beware..when I first ran into the stuck filter issues I found some horrific pics of some yamaha motorcycles where the filter had to be cut off with a die grinder. I took filter removal real seriously after that

On some skis a totally bugged filter is going to perhaps require engine removal..maybe this is why seadoo went with a cartridge/cap system ( no picnic there either I'm afraid until the 2011 models where unscrewing the cap fixing bolt actually pops the cap off ( somebody deserves lunch for that..and I'm buyin!))
