    Steering 'free play'

Have a seadoo '98 XPL.experience 2-3 inches of free play when turning the handle bars either right or left before the pump turns. Is this due to the steering cables needs replacement or can they be adjusted. Appreciate any advise on solving above problem

you will have to look at the steering arm under the handlebars. I am betting you have some severe ware in this area or a loose bolt. this part can be replaced. You may also want to check and see if the cable is loose at the steering nozzle.
