    Questions from new 300LX owner

Manual was not real clear on this - Do I need to stick a tube down the oil dipstick tube to remove oil or just attach a tube to the top of it and start sucking?

Manual doesn't mention changing S/C oil either. Is there another source for the service manual other than purchase thru Kawi? I am mechanically inclined just need some direction.

Is the Eaton S/C only on the 300?

    Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to the forum.
I stick a suction hose down the stick tube to suck it all out.

X2 just stick the tube all the way down to the bottom

As for the sc yes the eaton is only on the 300 and Kawi does not require that you change the sc oil as far as there concerned its not serviceable. All though u can change it it's not needed and requires the sc to be removed. As for service manual just buy one through Kawi or the green hulk store here if you intend on working on your ski it's a valuable tool.

Thanks for the replies. Will get a manual. I have a long warranty but don't have much faith in them. Have drilled a hole in the ski for bilge pump exit - waranty probably voided.

yes its basic info for those that are mechanicly inclined lol mate seriously tread carefully the s/c at this stage is non servicable requiring oil changes unless something goes horribly wrong.
good luck with looking after a great ski

Warranty can be voided ONLY if your mod is related to the failure.

I have been considering doing a bilge pump. Can you please post pictures of the installation? Where you mounted the pump, hose routing, exit - the hole you drilled, and wiring. If you can do this it would be very helpful. Thanks

Also, what brand/model pump you used and how much it cost.

Wow, I read on another site that they recommend changing SC oil every 10 hours and motor oil every 20.

BTW, new to this site but have been riding my kawi's since '94

It seems odd that you can't just suck out SC oil just like motor oil. We don't pull the motor to change oil! I will defiantly will be doing more research on this topic
