    2000 GTX, need help FAST!

I have a wire that I have no idead where it hooks up. I bought this machine that needed an engine rebuild, the previous owner took it apart and there is a wire that I have no idea where it is supposed to hook up. its a single black wire located on the left side and comes out of the harness in the front by the mag cover. The start/stop button will not work and the solenoid will not send power to the starter. Solenoid is brand new. Any help is very much appreciated. so if you have an answer for me, feel free to call me 208.946-1510 my name is Todd

Todd, sounds like the ground wire that attaches to the tab on the edge of the mag cover.

It's a little tough to get a good picture without disassembly of the exhaust. The wire attaches to the stator housing very close to the airbox. Hope this helps:

Thanks, thats exactly what I thought too. Now, when I push the start/stop button the alarm will stay on as long as hold the button in. Still no power to the starter??? All the fuses are good....

Are you getting the "beep beep" when you snap the DESS on?

Hmm. You know that the beeper works because you get a long beep when you press the start stop. If it was the wrong DESS, you would get a long beep when it's snapped on.

I assume you have the primary ground connected to the block. Do you get anything on the dash when you snap the DESS on?

    Is this a Di unit?

Yep, all grounds that I know of are connected. Something I noticed was that the gauge is not turning off after 10 minutes. It was still on this morning from last night. Not a DI, carb'd GTX.
