    fx 140 problem

    dealer told me my number 2 and 3 cylinder were not firing, were not for sure why. does anyone have any suggestions on why. they are still looking into it. i took it to houston motorsport south and they seem like they know what they are doing. thanks graham

    I am not real familiar with the FX engine, but I am sure it uses ignition coils. It could be bad ignition coils, or broken wires in the spark plug leads. The dealer should be able to test all of the components that cause this and fix it easily.

    Tim over there is OK once you get past his lack of enthusiasm.

    They are pretty good with a stock boat so you should be good.

    well fx 140 used a twin coil these mead they have one coil fires 2 cil at the same time the 2 and 3 share the coil so these have to be a pick up problem or a coil problem (can be cdi to )but is rare star the easy first
    they can swap the coils if spark apear on is the coil if the problem is not solve swap pick ups if the problem is solve is the pick up
    other ways is the cdi
    very simple to diagnostic or use the yamaha diagnostic sistem to make the coil fire but these only after you swap the coils is no way check the coil on the yds

    thanks, that is what the dealer told me yesterday. one of the coils is bad. i appreciate the info. graham
