SLH 700 Idle speed
I bought a couple of 1999 SLH skis last fall. I'm new to jet skis. Fired them up today in the driveway with the hose hooked up for cooling. They both idle at over 5000 rpm. Is this normal? The service manual says to set the idle in the water. Does putting them in the water put a load on the drive impeller which brings the idle rpm down to spec, or can I expect them to idle at 5000 rpm when I put them in the lake as well?

Yes the idle will drop in the water under load. Generally your idle will be around 3-3,500 rpm on the trailer and 1,100-1,300 on water.
