    Manifold tap ???

I'm getting ready to tap my manifold for the o2 sensor and I was wondering if could be done while on the ski? Also what can I do to avoid hitting the water jacket? Any tips for doing this? My mani is from a 2006 rxp.

    Thanks

Need to take it out, hole needs to be drilled in a drill press.

Not real hard, most of the bolts are easy to get to.

No it can't be done on the ski, the exhaust mani is at a slight angle and your sensor won't be straight.. the best way is to take it out and use a drill press, Start with a smaller size drill and work your way up to the correct size, there really aren't no guarantees you won't hit the jacket on the earlier mani's as they are all slightly different. Stay dead center.

You can send it slow91 as he has done a few of these without hitting the water jacket!

I just tapped one early 962. Pressure tested to 100psi all is good.

I did mine 6 months ago, the drill press method works good, dress the top flat first so you have a good reference were center is,

The farther out you are from the cooling port the better when drilling. Drill right down in that flat area as close to the edge as possible and still being able to have enough material to tap good threads

It looks pretty simple, so I'm going for it.
